Southold Fire Department responded to a signal 13 house fire. Upon arrival smoke was exiting the home.. The fire was located in the hall by the kitchen. Battery charger for a RC boat was to blame. The charger was plugged in and one of the two batteries overheated and caught fire causing the wall and floor to burn. Homeowner acted quickly and threw a wet towel on the fire and left the home. Fire Department members used a water can to finish and pull the sheet rock and floor to look for fire extension.
