Following our latest helicopter refresher training on September 28, the Southold Fire Department wasted no time in utilizing their freshly honed skills on the morning of October 1 to Medevac a suspected stroke patient from the grounds of Station 2 on Baywater Avenue to Stony Brook University Hospital for specialized care. 9/11 Flag Raising at 0600

As part of our annual 9/11 Memorial Services, members of the Southold Fire Department hoisted our garrison flag in front of HQ. The flag will remain proudly displayed during daylight hours to commemorate the losses our Country suffered 22 years ago this date and to remind us that Nation Freedom is a privilege that must be aggressively defended each and every day.... The Sunrise Fire - 28 years ago

Southold Fire Department unit 8-4-2 (or 8-4-4), in operation 28 years ago today on the north side of Sunrise Highway during the Sunrise Fire. The mutual aid response lasted several days. Our apparatus remained on scene for the duration of the emergency with firefighting personnel being rotated from headquarters as needed to assure rehabilitation time and safety....
