1. Fire Prevention: The Juniors are instructed by our fire prevention committee on how to inform the public on the important subject of Fire Safety. They use this knowledge to assist in educating the community through our school programs as well as various presentations throughout the year at community events. This instruction focuses on both the prevention of fires and the appropriate actions to be taken if a fire occurs.
2. Training: The Southold FD has an active training program in conjunction with the three companies of the fire department. This can range from water supply establishment to determining hose stretches to pump operations and various hose appliances. The truck company provides a wide variety of training. However specialized training in Hazardous Materials, vehicle extrication provide the distinct nature of truck work. In addition, training is given in basic first aid and CPR so that our juniors are prepared for everyday emergencies. These training courses are held in conjunction with the department officers and members who are trained instructors with various agencies.
5. Activities: The Juniors participate in various department activities during the year. Our Steak night is a great event where the junior help grill, serve and seat member of the community.
JOINING THE SOUTHOLD JUNIOR FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Membership in the Juniors is open to anyone age 14-17 and residency in the town of Southold is not required. You may contact us at 631-765-6912 and leave a message. Our Business meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month at Fire Headquarters, 55135 Main Road in Southold. They begin at 7:00pm.

6- BECOME A PART OF AN ORGANIZATION WHICH HAS SUCCESSFULLY CREATED THE FIREFIGHTERS WHO LEAD TODAY’S FIRE SERVICE.
