At 1031 hours on Saturday, November 30, Southold Fire Department was dispatched for a Signal 16/23, "car into a tree," at Monument Corner on Route 25. Arriving units found an eastbound truck that had departed from the paved roadway and contacted a tree on the grounds of St. Patrick's Church. The driver and sole occupant self-extricated and was seated in the rear of a Southold Town Police car. SFD personnel assessed, packaged and transported the driver to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. Jet Towing was called to the scene to remove the truck and complete the clean-up. All SFD units under the command of Chief Byrnes.
