| At 1328 hours on Friday, August 13th, SFD was activated for a Signal 23, "car into building." Upon arrival it was learned that a vehicle parked next to Hudson City Savings Bank in the Feather Hill complex on Route 25 had jumped the curb, proceeded down an embankment and destroyed a bank sign. The vehicle apparently then reversed its direction of travel, climbed back up the embankment in reverse and smashed into the front of the bank building removing several pillars which supported the roof overhang and finally coming to rest after backing into a parked pick-up truck. The lone female occupant of the vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries and transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital. The scene was secured by members of the SFD and a Town Building Inspector was summoned to assess possible structural damage to the building. |
