At 0334 hours Southold Fire Department was alerted for a Signal 13 on Goose Creek Lane Extension. First arriving chiefs confirmed a 13/35 and called for assistance from the Cutchogue and Greenport fire departments to the scene. Additional mutual aid was provided by the Mattituck, East Marion and Jamesport fire departments. The house, which was unoccupied at the time of the fire, was heavily damaged by the blaze. No injuries were reported and, after a thorough overhaul of the structure, mutual aid departments and the Southold Fire Department took up their equipment and returned to quarters following a four hour battle under the command of Chief David Surozenski and Assistant Chiefs Pindar Damianos and John Rumpler.
