| On Sunday, September 11, 2011, Southold Fire Department participated in a memorial service at Cochran Park marking the tenth anniversary of the devistating attacks on our Country on 9/11/01. Gathered around the statue of an osprey mounted atop a steel beam recoved from the wreckage of the World Trade Center, members of the Department in conjunction with other volunteer firefighters from the 8th Division and residents of Southold Town paused to reflect and pay their respects to the sacrifices made on that September day ten years ago when the magnitude of global unrest was brought home to the people of the United States and our lives changed forever. |
