Under the Leadership of Ex-Chief Bill Witzke, Southold Fire Department Hosted Fire Prevention Day Tuesday/Wednesday Oct 11 & 12th. The Hook and Ladder Truck and 8-4-16 visited Head Start, while Southold Kindergarten (Class of 2034) were entertained with a Puppet Show about Fire Safety, Smoke Detector usage, calling 911, Practicing Stop-Drop & Roll and Making a Pre-Plan Home Escape Route in case of an emergency at SFD Station 2. After Snack-Time they thoroughly enjoyed watching one of their teachers be lifted into the air by the bucket truck.
Hook and Ladder, Engine 8-4-2 and Ambulance 8-4-16 were brought over to Southold Elementary School where all 1st to 3rd Graders toured the trucks in and out. A good time was had by members, faculty and students. The Fire Prevention Committee is already looking forward to next year.
