At 19:35 on Friday, October 1, the Southold FD responded to a Signal 13, "Activated Fire Alarm " at Founders Village on Youngs Ave in Southold. An all-available personnel request was answered by an overwhelming response from Southold FD members.

A fully involved apartment fire was then extinguished with Mutual Aid assistance from responders from both Cutchogue and Greenport Fire Departments. A big shout-out to both departments for their timely assist at this incident. Although extensive damage to the apartment was incurred the immediate and effective response by all responders prevented additional catastrophic damage to the many connected and nearby apartments. One resident was taken to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for observation and treatment for possible smoke inhalation.
