Tuesday (5/19) morning, SFD was dispatched for a "male, traumatic injury to the foot." Arriving units found a landscaper while moving mulch had impaled his left foot with a pitchfork. ALS was established for pain management and a Rescue Pumper was sent to the scene with cutting tools. Using a newly acquired battery powered cut-off wheel, Chief Surozenski quickly detached one tine from the pitchfork allowing the patient to be safely packaged for transport to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of his injury. The scene was under the control of Chief Cochran.
