Fire Prevention Day

Once again the Southold Fire Department recognized Fire Prevention Week by hosting programs for Southold students at both Station Two and at the Elementary School. An excellent puppet show and Mother Nature's cooperation by providing us with a beautiful early Autumn day delighted the students with their newfound and refreshed knowledge about fire safety and, of course, their snacks Best response of the day was when Ex-Chief Witzke asked the students what an axe was used for and one of them quickly responded, "To cut down a tree." Thanks to our ten members who helped to make this yet another successful experience. By the way, our age old tradition of having at least one alarm during Fire Prevention Day is still intact thanks to a Signal 16 at Pindar's.
