At 0224 on Sunday, March 18th, Southold Fire Department was dispatched to a "car vs. pole" in the area of Albertson Marine on Route 25. Responding units found a severely damaged and overturned vehicle from which the female driver and sole occupant had self-extricated. Further examination of the area revealed two large utility poles East of the accident scene had been broken by the vehicle during its final seconds of travel. The driver, accompanied by a Southold Town Police Officer, was transported by Southold Rescue to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
